National Reconciliation Week - Continue Your Commitment Through Cultural Awareness Learning

As we mark the end of National Reconciliation Week, we invite Supervisors of Training to take a practical step in continuing their personal and professional commitment to reconciliation, cultural safety and improving health equity outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

CICM is pleased to offer access to AIDA’s (Australian Indigenous Doctors’ Association) online Cultural Awareness course through a limited allocation (33) of course passes kindly gifted to the College from AIDA.

The course explores:

• Cultural awareness and cultural safety concepts
• Historical context shaping current health realities
• Practical application to health practice and interactions with patients, families and colleagues

For those who have already registered but not yet completed the course, we encourage you to revisit and complete your learning journey.

Upon course completion, you can log this as a CPD activity under Category 1 Educational Activities. In addition, you will meet the program level requirements of cultural safety and health equity awareness as you reflect on this activity.

This is one way members can reflect on their own practice and contribute to broader efforts to improve culturally safe care and support Closing the Gap in health outcomes.

Important update for existing participants

If you enrolled and partially completed the AIDA Cultural Awareness Course before the LMS upgrade on 27 May 2026, your login details will still work. However, previous course progress could not be migrated to the new platform. You will therefore need to recommence the course. On completion, you will receive a Certificate of Completion through the upgraded system.
