Designation of Accredited Units
The importance of changing the designation of accredited units from ‘Unlimited’ to ‘General Training’ has been discussed by the Board of the College and has recently been approved. Your accreditation will remain the same – however, our website, professional documentation and all outgoing correspondence from the College will be updated accordingly.

2015 Quality of Training Survey Results
The training department sends out a survey twice a year to all trainees who have recently completed (or are about to complete) a period of training. The results of the survey are reviewed by the College Education Committee and a summary is presented to the Board. Apart from responding to the  direct questions many trainees also provide comments, which are extremely useful in augmenting the data received. Most of the comments are positive about the training experience, but some also provide valuable insights into possible problems at particular training sites.

Hospital Accreditation
Expressions of Interest  for Trainee Representatives 
The College is seeking expressions of interest from senior registrars who wish to be involved in hospital accreditation inspections. Being part of an accreditation team provides a great learning opportunity for trainees and provides insight into how other units and hospitals operate.

Supervisor of Training Workshops
The College’s supervisors of training you are a vital part of the training program. To develop and enhance the skills of our supervisors, the College is running four "Supervisor of Training Workshops” in 2016.

The program will include sessions on feedback, remediation of the poorly performing trainee and time for discussion and questions from supervisors.

The workshops will be facilitated by Dr Bronwyn Avard (Director – Canberra Hospital) and A/Prof Bruce Lister (Director of Professional Affairs - Education, CICM).

The dates and locations are as follows;
     - Thursday February 11th in Melbourne
     - Thursday July 28th in Sydney
     - Thursday October 27th in Adelaide
     - New Zealand (dates to be confirmed)

If you are a supervisor who lives outside of one of the above regions, the College will provide a return economy airfare and a nights’ accommodation if required.

Please note that as a supervisor, it is expected you attend one of the workshops as this is an opportunity for you to not only learn new skills/techniques but also to network with supervisors from other regions. Supervisors can also claim CPD points for these workshops.

The final deadline for reserving a place at the Melbourne Workshop is Thursday 4 February 2016.

Communications Course - Adelaide

This course is designed to provide CICM trainees with the skills required to communicate effectively with patients and families in the ICU setting. ASM Abstract Submissions Now Open! - Click Here
This conference promises to be informative and provocative and should not be missed. We would like to invite researchers to submit abstracts either relating directly to the theme of Minds and Machines, or those of high quality papers with more general interest.

Submitting an Abstract
Felicity Hawker Medal Presentations 
CICM trainees are invited to submit an abstract related to their Formal Project. The best  four submissions will be invited to present their project at the Felicity Hawker Session of the ASM.

Best Free Paper Session 
We invite researchers to submit their project for presentation at this important session of the ASM. Projects relating to the theme of Mind and Machines will be well suited to this session.

Short Paper Session 
Researchers are invited to submit for the Short Paper Session.  This session will be held concurrently with the Best Free Paper Session on Saturday 4 June 2016.
