Overseas Trained Intensivists

International Medical Graduates seeking specialist recognition in intensive care medicine in Australia, or Vocational Registration in New Zealand, must undergo a process of assessment, via the Australian Medical Council, or Medical Council of New Zealand.

Details of the process of assessment are outlined in the CICM's Policy Documents, IC-11.

In order to be eligible for this process, doctors must have certification as an intensive care specialist in their country of training. Following assessment by the CICM (via the relevant Medical Council), the doctor may be eligible to apply for Fellowship.

Area of Need

The College also provides assessments for international medical graduates who wish to occupy specialist positions in Areas of Need.

Please see Policy Documents, IC-12.

For further information on OTS and AON, please contact Sumithra Abeygunasekera.
