Training - How Do I Register
Prospective trainees must have a basic medical degree recognised by the Australian Medical Council or the Medical Council of New Zealand. Approved Basic Training cannot commence until at least 12 months of general hospital experience after graduation from a medical school have been completed.
If registering for advanced training, trainees must register within three months of commencing in an approved post, in order to have advanced training accredited.
IMPORTANT REGISTRATION INFORMATION
- Original documents are requested for the retrospective accreditation of Basic Training. If unavailable, all photocopies must be certified as a true copy by a Justice of the Peace. All submitted documents will be returned following your assessment.
- The College advises prospective trainees to submit as much detailed documentation as possible regarding their past training. This will assist the Censor to complete an accurate assessment of training requirements toward Fellowship. Documentation detailing past Internal Medicine and Anaesthesia training is particularly significant in devising an assessment.
- Please note documentation should be in the form of Letters of Service (retrospective) from the hospitals where each post was undertaken detailing the dates and nature of the training terms, including the level of seniority during each post.
- Trainees should also provide a copy of their Curriculum Vitae with their registration form
An assessment cannot be completed until all of the above criteria have been met.
